NEW MEMOIR CHRONICLES DEVOTED GRANDMOTHER’S FIGHT TO HELP HER GRANDDAUGHTER OVERCOME THE ODDS
For The Love of Aimee, An Inspirational Story About A Young Girl’s Struggle With
Cerebral Palsy

SAN JOSE, CA—September 15, 2010For the Love of Aimee: A Memoir  by Julie Riera Matsushima is the story of a determined grandmother’s journey with her granddaughter, Aimee, around the country and around the world, seeking a breakthrough to help Aimee achieve her ultimate goal of walking and talking. Diagnosed with irreparable brain damage at birth, doctors said Aimee was blind, deaf, mute and would remain in a vegetative state the rest of her life. So they said. For the Love of Aimee: A Memoir invites the reader to share in the disappointments, challenges and amazing achievements accomplished by this little girl.
There are over 12 million children with special needs in the U.S. Grandparents are important caregivers and have much to offer, however, little is written about their involvement with children with special needs. This inspirational story will elevate the awareness of millions who are touched by the demands of a special needs child. Aimee’s sense of humor, enthusiasm and confidence will inspire all who have had to call upon their inner resources to rise above challenges they thought they couldn’t meet.

For the Love of Aimee: A Memoir  will be released in paperback at retailers and bookstores across the country in January 2011 by Greenleaf Book Group, at a price of $15.95 per copy. Proceeds will go to the That’s Amore Charitable Foundation Inc., a non-profit organization that aides in developing the full potential of children with special needs by providing assistance for therapy and equipment. The author is available to discuss her book and related topics at book signings and discussions, media interviews and speaking engagements.
